Mike Walker was killed in a climbing accident with Graham Whitfield and Geoffrey Hargreaves on 6 September 1976 returning from the summit of Mount Peary, Argentine Islands, Antarctic Peninsula.Mike, was from Meols, a village on the northern coast of the Wirral Peninsula. The south east edge of Bussey Glacier.Peter Salino has drawn attention to an image of the ridge that would have been traversed by the three climbers who were killed in the avalanche. It is the ridge leading to the summit of Mount Peary which is in the background of this image of FIDS climbing on Lumiere Peak.
