Doctor, 14.04.1988 froze during a snowstorm

On April 14, 1988, a few days before the end of the wintering season, doctor Sergey Chiruk and direction finder officer Anatoly Shunik left the house to go to banya. It seems they got lost in the fierce blizzard raging at the time and froze to death.
Sergey was found only the following year, when snow began melting in summer, 300 metres from the station. Shumik was never found. It is possible that he had fallen from an ice barrier situated right next to Mirny.
